SEMELE- Henry Purcell

In this edgy, semi-staged reimagining of Semele, Handel’s myth of desire and divine hubris is set in the glitzy, cutthroat world of influencer celebrity culture (think a Kardashian level starlet on the rise). Semele is a social media icon and reality TV actress lured by Jupiter, a powerful Hollywood producer, who promises to make her truly “immortal” through global superstardom. This sleek, contemporary staging mixes red carpets, viral livestreams, and paparazzi projections to expose our obsession with fame, beauty, and the tragic cost of wanting to live forever in the spotlight.

These modern touches blur the line between audience and performer, adding a gritty authenticity to the drama as the glittering world she craves devours her in real time.  A powerful reminder that in today’s fame-obsessed culture, the spotlight is both the promise and the pyre.

Tickets for SEMELE are available now at LasVegasSinfonietta.com or contact our box office at (702) 555-1234.
